Monivae Reuse Farm – Design of Pivot Irrigation

Summary:

Wannon Water owns an irrigation farm in Monivae, covering a 91.6-hectare irrigation area. Currently, the farm utilises both center pivot irrigators and hard hose traveling irrigators.

Recently, Wannon Water assessed the irrigation practices across the farm and identified several developments to enhance the efficiency of its broader recycled reuse scheme. One key development is the installation of a third center pivot at Monivae. HK Solutions was engaged to conduct feasibility studies and subsequent detailed design for this additional irrigator.

As part of our engagement, HK Solutions' electrical and hydraulic engineering team undertook detailed design of several key infrastructure upgrades, including:

• Extension of 1 km of buried recycled water pipeline

• Upgrade to the site recycled water pump station

• Complete replacement of the recycled water pump station main switchboard and motor control center

• Functional process improvements

• Stakeholder engagement for pipeline crossing transmission gas pipework
